Welcome
Catholic United have been providing football in the Borough for the best part of fifty years. We are one of the longest serving clubs in the Southend and District Junior Sunday League and are among the founder members of the South East Essex Primary League.
Currently we have 25 teams registered to play in the Southend leagues, 11 at Mini Soccer 15 at 11-a-side.That probably makes us the biggest youth football club in the district. In 20ll Catholic United Minors were awarded the Football Association's benchmark award for grassroots football clubs, the FA Charter Standard Community Club Award. The FA Charter Standard programme is a kitemark, which recognises and rewards high quality levels of provision in club and league football.
The kitemark is awarded to clubs that are well run, sustainable and which place child protection, quality coaching and safety as p
aramount.
The Catholic Pre Season Tournament 2013-14 Season
Our 18th Pre Season Football Tournament has been booked for the weekend of 31st August -1st September. Last year was a great two days of football and the competition was a sell out in all but one age group. Catholic had visitors from Hertfordshire, Kent and London amongst the entries. To give you some idea of the scale of the tournament operation, on the Friday afternoon we pitched up at Shoebury High School, to be told by the caretaker we couldn't use the existing car park (!! freshly tarmaced !!) - so starting from scratch, we moved goals (towed them) to the far area for a new Pitch Four. Rustled up some Heras fencing (an example of Catholic initiative!!) from the school's building project to supplement our chestnut palings. Built a 150 yard fence. Turned pitch one into the car park, marked out a new pitch four, marked out a new mini soccer pitch - Pitch A [and mowed it (twice!!)]. Put up a marquee and two gazebos, powered up, got the water on, built eight mini soccer goals and four youth team goals, lost my dog (found him again), put in corner flags, seating, fridges, tables, chairs and trestles. Got the food and drink from the cash and carry, stocked fridges and set out our refreshment tent. Fetched all the gear from Bridgewater Drive and from Dean's yard in Upminster. Time started 3.30pm. Time finished 10.00 pm. And that's before a ball's been kicked!! Prior to the day there is also months of pre planning, visiting teams to be contacted, schedules written, referees agenda worked out, endless phonecalls and conversations to try to ensure we do the best we can on the day, for the 100 or so teams that play.
Entry Prices for teams are
5-a-side (Under 7s) £35.00
7-a-side (Under 8,9 and 10) £35.00
